I read the Game of Thrones last week and have started Clash of Kings this week and feel like there are still some questions that need answers. If they explain later in the series then just say and I will wait but i skim alot on the boring parts and could have missed something.
What does Lyanna make Ned promise? I think I have a theory for this one but not sure,
Ser Mormont was exiled for selling poachers, what does that mean? He just explained his story to Dany in Clash of Kings but they didnt really explain that part.
And finally Why was Robert named King and not someone else? Why not Ned or a Lannister.Game of thrones book questions?
1. That has not been revealed yet. There are theories out there, however.
2. Slavery is illegal in Westeros. Ser Jorah went into exile because Ned Stark, his liege, would have executed him for the crime of slavery.
3. Robert was king because he had the best claim. Robert's grandmother was a Targaryen, so that means he has some royal blood. The Lannisters and the Starks never married the Targaryens.
Hope that helps.Game of thrones book questions?
jason, you need to visit Tower of the Hand, the website about the series where fans have organized who's who and to a lesser degree, what's what. It's at http://www.towerofthehand.com/reference/
At least some of your questions can be answered there.
Mormont was exiled for selling criminals (poachers, who hunted on royal lands where it was forbidden) into slavery rather than sending them to the wall. His crime was considered highly immoral, hence the harsh sentence.Game of thrones book questions?
George R.R. Martin is keeping Lyanna's promise to Ned a secert--as of now. There's lots of theories out there. My favorite is the Jon Snow is Lyanna and Rheager Targaryen's son. And that Rheager didn't rape Lyanna--that they were lovers.
Mormont was exciled for selling poachers--he sold the poachers as slaves. That's why he was exiled and how he dishonored his family.
Ned didn't want to be king. And Robert was the one who organized a lot of the fighting against the Targaryens. Also Jaime Lannister is and was part of the Kingsguard. That meant that he was supposed to protect the Targaryen king that he killed. A huge reason why (besided that fact that he is a Lannister) that King Robert doesn't trust him and Jaime is called The Kingslayer.
