Yes, the whole series is very engaging and epic. (epically epic)
Just be warned, the books are huge, and there's not a ton of magic. There's a lot of political intrigue, plotting, knights, kings/queens, plotting, killing, violence, graphic language/adult scenes, lots of plot twists, bastards (literally and figuratively), war, assassinations, LOTS of deaths, etc...
It's like English History/War of the Roses x Shakespeare x Fall of the Roman Empire x LOTR.
It does have dragons (eventually), and direwolves/wargs, and a tiny bit of magic.
Read book 1 and see if you get hooked. :)
