MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A RECOVERY DISK AND BACK EVERYTHING UP! You will loose all of your data, because the harddrive is what stores all of your stuff.
Then follow this guide http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latd600/sm/hdd.htm replace the new harddrive the same exact way, the old was in. Put your recovery disk in, reinstall windows (its easy, and dell tech support will help you if you get stuck, or you can email me for help) reinstall any drivers, software, and then reinstall your backup.

I was planning on buying the dell vostro 400 desktop computer and i was wondering if its really only meant for buisness purposes. How can I fix a broken screw on Dell Inspiron 1525 screen?

I dropped my Dell Inspiron 1525 a few months ago and it seems to have broken one of the holes which you attach the screws to around the monitor (i.e. it won't connect, just keeps screwing). The monitor itself works fine, it's just the one screw, and the bezel keeps coming off because it's not connected properly.
Is there any way I can fix this without a new monitor?

Wait till the glue dries completely, and try screwing the screw into the whole. If the screw catches, then you are fine and you can screw the 2 pieces of the bezel together. If it catches, bot not too strongly, I'd suggest you put more glue into the whole, attach 2 pieced of the bezel with the duct tape, and then screw in the screw. Wait a couple of days until the glue dries completely, and remove the duct tape.

most Microsoft operating systems will work together although it would have helped if you mentioned what o/s is on your old computer and what the new o/s is on the new computer.
This is the most common instance for your situation: your new computer has a new hard drive all you need to do is change the jumper pin from MA (master) to CS (cable select) position.
Do the same to your old one and find a bay to screw it into. If your new computer didn't come with the old style (flay Grey) IDE cable and it has the newer ATA (thinner) cable then you need to go get a converter from your local Comp USA.
When you restart your computer you just need to click My Computer and you should see both drives there...

Yes, there are always 2 hard drive connectors on the motherboard. I have yet to see a motherboard with only one. Simply plug your ATA drive to the cable and look on the mobo for the empty plug for the other end and you're up!!

There is probably a unused IDE header that you can use on the motherboard, or you can use the ide header from the CD drive unless there are two drives already connected.
most Microsoft operating systems will work together although it would have helped if you mentioned what o/s is on your old computer and what the new o/s is on the new computer.
This is the most common instance for your situation: your new computer has a new hard drive all you need to do is change the jumper pin from MA (master) to CS (cable select) position.
Do the same to your old one and find a bay to screw it into. If your new computer didn't come with the old style (flay Grey) IDE cable and it has the newer ATA (thinner) cable then you need to go get a converter from your local Comp USA.
When you restart your computer you just need to click My Computer and you should see both drives there...

Yes, there are always 2 hard drive connectors on the motherboard. I have yet to see a motherboard with only one. Simply plug your ATA drive to the cable and look on the mobo for the empty plug for the other end and you're up!!

How to enable fingerprint reader in dell latitude D830?

I have an xps that is running xp, and i have recorded programs on my laptop with the media center and all the hardware dell gave me. However i wanted to record old vhs tapes to my laptop. If you are going to use the restore disk then that will have all the drivers and apps on it. If you are just going to use a XP install disk, make sure you download all the drivers and put them on a flash drive or whatever. I have a Dell Inspiron 5150 notebook with a dead mobo. Instead of being bummed about it, I'm looking at it as an opportunity to make a cheap-ish mod. I was wondering if I can use any mobo to hook the lcd up to, maybe making my own notebook case to hold the guts. Should the dell lap top be flat after fitting into the docking station?
I got a Dell PR01X docking station to go with my Dell 600m. They are supposed to be compatible items. But after mating the two, the lap top is slightly inclined to the front- the back sits about an inch higher (resting on the docking station) than the front end of the lap top resting on the table. Is this mechanically the right arrangement? Would it not put undue strain on the mating electrical connectors ? I bought a dell 9000 and im not impressed with the cooling. So i am thinking of buying Cosmos S case. But here is the problem and question, First is does dell use some different kind of front panel connectors because i dont see it on the motherboard. We need a Manager/supervisor/"L2" (senior, second tier agent) approval to send the disk, that's the global policy. We won't send you other applications, or a drivers disk, but we will send the XP disk if you need it.
What do I recommend on your case? Be firm, but not to the point to be rude or aggressive, on your request. If the agent says "no" bluntly, insist on speaking to a supervisor. And if even the supervisor denies the disk, ask him/her to get you transferred to sales (if you are willing to purchase) and ask the supervisor or the agent to speak to the sales representative before, so your request is completely understood.
I hope you can manage to get the disk, or at least to purchase it.
