Fantasy Book lovers, what makes a good villain in your opinion?

For me i love the villains that are manipulative like Littlefinger in game of thrones and as well the characters like Loki in the film Thor, they just seem to be such a great villain.Fantasy Book lovers, what makes a good villain in your opinion?
Villains that are working toward the greater good.

Like Magneto in X-men.
I've never been able to digest the idea of a villian who is inherently and irremediably evil. All my antagonists have morally ambiguous personalities - they never do things out of pure malice.

So, in my opinion a good villian would be someone who can commit unimaginable atrocities but at the same time provides a strong moral basis for them - not something along the lines of making himself immortal or world domination, but a more relatable cause, perhaps a tortured past etc.Fantasy Book lovers, what makes a good villain in your opinion?
really good question! Um ... i have to think on this one... to me, a good villain is one who has a personality that REALLY stands out, and makes him/her who they are. Ex: Voldemort. he's so unique, and i just want to know more and more about him. :] Not a normal typical "bad" person.
that they are somewhat interesting and are more than just a villain as Mur Laferty says some times you just have to ask yourself "What would Magneto do?"Fantasy Book lovers, what makes a good villain in your opinion?
one with a big penis
