I started watching the series awhile ago and have not yet started episode 5 but a few days ago i started reading the books and am jon snows first chapter so my question is will it screw me up if i continuing watching the showGame of thrones question?

yeah. the series stays true to the books though, so you don't really need to read it (i don't usually say that lol, i always read before watching the movie or show, but that's because most movies nowadays are totally different from the books)Game of thrones question?
No, you just might come to parts in the series that you haven't encountered in the book yet is all.
