Looking for a good book that is dark, mysterious and possibly has a hint of fantasy?

(Before they are suggested, I've already read the popular names like HP, LOTR, Chronicles of Narnia, Hunger Games, Game of Thrones, etc.) I'm looking for something new and interesting that has elements of mystery, darkness, and maybe a dash of fantasy/magic. I'm an adult, so no worries for suggesting something mature. Also, I'm not interested in vampires. Nothing against vampire books, I've just read so many and I'm not in the mood. Thanks in advance!Looking for a good book that is dark, mysterious and possibly has a hint of fantasy?
Gone series - Michael Grant

Gone is a young-adult supernatural dystopian novel series written by Michael Grant. The first novel in the series, also entitled Gone, was originally published in 2008. The second book, Hunger, was released a year later, followed by the third book, Lies, on May 4, 2010. Book four, released on April 5th, 2011, is titled Plague. Books 5 and 6 will be entitled Fear and Light respectively.

"In the small town of Perdido Beach, California, everyone fifteen and over mysteriously disappears in the blink of an eye. In school, no one knows what to do and there is mass chaos and confusion among the remaining population."
I know this is going to sound childish, but I would definitely go with the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. I read that series when it came out and loved it. Yes it was for a younger audience but it's still a good read. Riordan does a fantastic job of carrying over his mystery genre to this series and even though it won't be as surprising as full fledged mystery novel you'll still be surprised. Right now i'm on his other series that is supposed to follow it and I think it's called The Heroes of Olympus. Very interesting books!Looking for a good book that is dark, mysterious and possibly has a hint of fantasy?
These are adult books:

The Forest of Hours by Kerstin Ekman - the story of a little troll/hobgoblin who lives among humans for five hundred years, passing through many different lives (set in Scandinavia)

The Stolen Child by Keith Donohue - the story of a boy taken by a bunch of strange wild children who teach him to live in the woods, and of the changeling who replaces him (set in America)

Titus Groan and Gormenghast by Mervyn Peake - Machiavellian goings-on in a bizarre castle

I can also recommend Italo Calvino and Charles Williams (the British one)

Try:

Incarceron by Catherine Fisher (This is DARK, actually I loved it so much because it freaked me out so much lol)...

Beautiful Creatures by Cami Garcia and Margaret Stohl (A dark love story with mortal and caster girl, personally one of my favorites)...

Uglies by Scott Westerfield (Creepy but good as I've heard..._

Eragon (Fantasy, something like Narnia)
Well... my suggestions to you would be...

Artemis Fowl Series 鈥?Eoin Colfer

* More for kids, still alright.

The Mortal Instruments Series 鈥?Cassandra Clare

* Really good, I'd personally recommend it!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series 鈥?Rick Riordan

* Younger series, too -- book is much better than the movie.
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman

American Gods by Neil Gaiman

I've not yet read Anansi Boys, but those two books are both excellent and they contain all of the elements you're looking for. A hint of fantasy and both are dark and mysterious.
I've never read them, but I think that Stephen King and Dean Koontz might fit your description. Also, if you're into a not-so-dark mystery, you could try reading Mary Higgins Clark; she's got a ton of really great books (in my opinion).

Have a good night!
