Is there any difference between A Game of Thrones the book and the TV Show?

I want to know if anything that was in the Book was cut in the TV Show or is she Show adapted pretty accurately to the book?Is there any difference between A Game of Thrones the book and the TV Show?
It's a pretty faithful adaptation, but there were plotlines simplified, characters combined or eliminated and some things that happened "off camera" in the books were made into scenes.

The way the books are written is pretty interesting. Each chapter is from the point of view of a different character. In Book 1, there are several characters that are "point of view characters", like Ned, Catelyn, Bran, Sansa, Arya, Tyrion, Dany and Jon. The second book continues with those characters (well, obviously not Ned) but also adds in a few more. So, with the way the books are written, some extra scenes needed to be added to cover events that were discussed, but not depicted, because they didn't include a POV character.

For example, Littlefinger and Varys are not POV characters, so their little confrontations in the throne room never happen, although they certainly could!
