I heard they were great books as well as a great tv show and I'd like to get into them.
I'm wondering how the tv show goes along with the books. I'd like to read the books first...Would I be able to read a bit of the book and then watch the few episodes based on that part I read? Or is it mixed up?How are the Game of Thrones books/tv show done?
The adaptation is played fairly straight. There are differences, but they're not significant to the overall plot. GRRM is involved with the screenplay, so it's quite true to the original vision even when it's important to demonstrate a plot element rather than have a character think or say it.
The first season of the show was the first book in its entirety. In this case, you could read a book between seasons, or decide to skip ahead in the books and wait for follow-up seasons of the TV series. I don't think you'll be spoilered either way, because either way it'll be new for you in one of the two formats. How are the Game of Thrones books/tv show done?
The TV shows are done to the letter. You can definitely do that. And they are good too!
The books are a bit... confusing at times. There are like 7 different characters so mixing up who is who is quite easy. Otherwise your fine.
