Anyway, I've decided that I want to start reading books that are similar to the series. Does anyone have any books they can recommend? I'm not to big on the whole magic and fantasy thing, but I do like the medieval aspect and everything else Game of Thrones offers. I wouldn't mind a little magic and fantasy, but i don't want to read about elves, trolls, orcs, wizards and all that. I'm really just looking for something similar to Game of Thrones with light allusions to magic and fantasy.
So what do you guys think, can you help me out?Can someone help me find books similar to Game of Thrones?
The Sword of Truth is a fantastic series by Terry Goodkind. It is set in a fantasy world with magic unlike any you have ever read of in books. I have become completely enveloped in this series and certainly find it on par with the best out there. It is an 11 book series beginning with Wizards First Rule which you will love. I know it is a lot of reading but if your not up to it you can always find the books on tape as they are very popular.
ps. I was turned into the popular television series legend of the seeker but honestly that series sucks and does the books no justice with their imitation story lines and cheap budget. These books deserved the honor of showtime or hbo making a series out of them just like Game of Thrones is right now.
Here's a link to info

and a link to download the audio tapes, they are virus free I checked.
For legal reasons you should own the audio tapes already and I should tell you to avoid using peer to peer sharing services such as torrents. However, the choice is yours.

Sword of Truth Series is HEAVY in Magic. AGoT focuses on Drama. You can substitute the magic for something else and the story pretty much stays intact, like dragons with gunpowder.

Can someone help me find books similar to Game of Thrones?Try George RR Martin's other set of books in the same world: The Hedge Knight.
The story is set a generation before the events in A Song of Ice and Fire (of which Game of Thrones is only the first book), and there are pretty much no spoilers that will ruin your experience with the TV series.
You know Game of Thrones is based on a book series, right? Why don't you start there?
The first book is called (wait for it) Game of Thrones. Can someone help me find books similar to Game of Thrones?
By the way, some of these books require "active-reading". Don't expect to just sit back and knock them out like a Drizzt or Dragonlance book. This should be noted when picking up any of R. Scott Bakker's books. I like to call them "intelligent" fantasy.
Black Company series (Glen Cook)
Malazan Book of the Fallen series (Steven Erikson)
Prince of Nothing series (R. Scott Bakker)
Acacia (David Anthony Durham)
The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant (Stephen R. Donaldson)
First Law series (Joe Abercrombie)
The Lies of Locke Lamora (Scott Lynch)
Don't listen to the idiot recommending "The Sword of Truth". They are quite possibly the worst fantasy books ever written.
