Should I read the Game of Thrones books, or keep watching the HBO series?

I feel like if I read the books it's gonna spoil the shows, since I would already know what's gonna happen...although I really want to read the books! Help!Should I read the Game of Thrones books, or keep watching the HBO series?
I decided to read the book halfway through the series and they are incredible. There are little details that add more suspense to scenes and everything becomes much clearer because the show can't waste too much time on all the scenes. I did wonder how I would have felt when Ned died without reading the books but honestly I don't regret reading them. Some scenes play out way better on paper. Plus you have to wait a year between each season! I'm on book 3 A Storm of Swords and I am glad I decided to read the books because you can't imagine the stuff to come! But I would have had to wait maybe 2-3 years just for all this to play out on screen. Check out my book review on the 2nd book (no spoilers) if you want a better feel for the books.

The series itself hasn't finished yet (in book form) and the next story 'A Clash of Kings' might not be on tv for a while. You can get more enjoyment out of the books, finding the detail and the 'original' source from the writing than watching the show. I'd recommend reading them, even A Game of Thrones, the start of the Song of Ice and Fire series.Should I read the Game of Thrones books, or keep watching the HBO series?
I think that it really depends on which medium speaks to you better: books or the screen. Either way, the story is very well woven and you won't be disappointed. I've read all the books years ago and I still enjoyed the show very much.
read the books if you can, they are pretty awesome.
