I'm tired of stupid sappy romance. As much as I like the Wheel of Time series, I had to take a break from it because the Min/Elaine/Aviendha thing was beginning to drive me bonkers. I'm more than fine with blood and gore, just no teen books, please.
Some of the books I've read and enjoyed (these do involve some romance, but it's fairly minimal compared to most books; I also am aware that some of these are in a series, but I'm just mentioning the first books out of ease):
-Elantris - Brandon Sanderson
-A Game of Thrones - George R. R. Martin
-Assassin's Quest - Robbin Hobb
-Shaman's Crossing - Robin Hobb
-the Name of the Wind - Patrick Rothfuss
-the Hero and the Crown - Robin McKinley
-the Redemtion of Althalus - David and Leigh Eddings
-the Warded/Painted Man - Peter V. Brett
Some of the books I really, really don't like (please don't kill me for this):
-Twilight
-Harry Potter
-anything by Dean Koontz
-Sunshine - Robin McKinley
-Anathem - Neal Stephenson
-Gardens of the Moon - Steven EriksonCan you recommend some Fantasy and Sci-fi books without romance?
I recently finished what George RR Martin had finished of that series too. Did you not finish the series? You only listed the first book. The next book in the series is WAY better. Of course I didn't realize he hadn't written the 5th yet. Anyways while looking around some site to get the update of when he was going to release the 5th, only to find it was supposed to be finished 5 years ago, I found a awesome suggestion. Greg Keyes - The Briar King. I'm on the 3rd book now. And I think I like them almost more than the Martin books. There is a little less romance even.

Some books that I would recommend is a book called Pendragon, one of the best books I ever read, Eragon another one of my favorites, and Ender's Game. Can you recommend some Fantasy and Sci-fi books without romance?
Terry Pratchett writes for the fantasy genre. I don't know if you've heard of the Discworld series? They're really good, my favourite ones are Witches Abroad, Equal Rites and Mort, but he must have at least twenty books involving the Discworld and you can either start at the beginning and work your way along the series or you can pick up any that takes your fancy, because the books are not tied in to each other. i started with Witches Abroad and like i say, it remains one of my favourites. They're hilarious too, which is a bonus, especially the earlier ones. Look them up and see what you think.
