You need to read the classics. See where this all came from.

Sci Fi:
Dune - Frank Herbert (first 3 books)
Isaac Asimov - Robot books. Foundation books.
Orson Scott Card - Ender's Game

Fantasy:
Tolkien - He is the basis for all modern fantasy. Fellowship of the Ring is the first book.
Le Morte d'Arthur - (King Arthur Legends) by Sir Thomas Malory

These are not exactly 'teen' books. They are the next step up. They are all great books. Enjoy.
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton

Not sci-fi but worth a read.....Dangerous Days and its sequel, Blades, both by J. William Turner. Very realistic fiction about Australian teens in several tense, dramatic, life and death situations set in many parts of Australia, plus England and California, and deals with teenage, adult and social themes. More info in Yahoo web search
I always suggest the Jim Butcher series The Dresden Files. I do not believe it falls into the teen category, but it's somewhere up the same ally as all the books you listed. There are about 8 books right now with no end in sight. Are they great? Eh. Better than Twilight and Eragon, not as good as HP. But with the last book Butcher really bought it home.I really want some good books to read. i like teen fiction and sci-fi.?
