Ok i have a dell desktop with a "Windows XP Reinstallation CD" (w/ service pack 2) and i want to know if i can use it on a dell inspiron laptop. the laptop is having bluescreen errors at log in, so i want to do an XP repair install, can i use this cd even though it came with the desktop?
im worried about it have different driversCan i use a Dell recovery Disk for a different Dell laptop?dont worry about the drivers since the installer should be smart enough to pick the correct one. What may be a snag is the serial number for windows XP. because if you dont have a valid serial number that installation wont work when you do a windows update.
Try it and see. the drivers should be ok. If you need special drivers you can always go online and download them
