Are 'A song of Ice and Fire" series a good read?

I was watching Game of Thrones the show based on the books. I really enjoyed it and was hoping if someone could tell me if it is worth buying the books. Also the three dragons that daenerys targaryen is able to hatch can you tell me more about those dragons based on the plot of the books.Are 'A song of Ice and Fire" series a good read?
It's excellent, widely considered the best in the genre by many.



I'm not a fantasy fan, but two members of our family and one friend bullied me into reading the first one. I now own all five in hard cover and have read and reread the first several. I've just begun the fifth volume. (Autographed, and an excellent birthday present because of that.)



If you like the HBO series, you'll really like the books, which include a whole lot more detail about what's going on and every character's background, emotions, and all that. The series is like the tip of the iceberg, with 75% more content available only in the books.Are 'A song of Ice and Fire" series a good read?
AMAZING read! It is so well thought out. The show is great, but the books go into much more detail and you become more familiar with all the characters and plotlines (some of which dont make it into the tv series.) It's incredibly detailed, and I highly recommend listening to it on dvd- the guy who reads does a great job and gets all the voices and inflections right. love it!....as far as the dragons go, I haven't gotten far enough into the 2nd book to provide more info than you might already know from watching the show. All I know is that they were born from death- as the witch told Daenerys- the deaths of Drogo, her son %26amp; the witch herself. Also, they like charred meat! Thats all I know so far. one of the best series you will ever read, the books are far more brutal then the show(brutal meaning what happens example killings and such) but its one of the best books i ever read in my life. I have two sets of these books, .ahaha
Yes, it's an excellent series.
