Im looking for a really good fantasy novel. some i really liked were the ones taking place in medevil/unknown times like:
-game of thrones/ice and fire series by George MArtin.
-seven waters by Juliet Marillier
please no books like star war, hitch hikers guide to galaxy. and no future ones wit aliens. So i guess im not exactly asking for Sci-Fi, but more like Fantasy
i wouldn't mind it if theres some heart-wrenching romance in it =) and i really like stuff with a wee bit of magic in it. and the cliche story-line about a girl turning into some really powerful magician or something and fights a witch or something like that. (like arya from game of thrones)Any good science fiction/ Fantasy novels?

anything by michael crichton (jurassic park, prey, timeline and more!)
You should read the Lord of the rings; one of the best books ever written and the Hobbit.Any good science fiction/ Fantasy novels?
YESSSSS Best science fiction book of all time :::::: Stranger In A Strange Land
No joke one of my favorite books and I don't even like science fiction that much. Pretty sure this is touted as the best sci fi novel by the masses as well. Basically left me with a great view of religion, life, and the understanding of understanding.
Try The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan .
Here is a link to his page . He passed away last year but still has one book to come out in a 14 or perhaps 15 book series.
Each book runs about 600 pages and is a stand alone story in itself .
But I would suggest you read The Eye of The World first .

Time travel acceptable? Time for Patriots is a lot of fun, mostly set in the past. No aliens. 203 pages hardcover, and I'm told it is also on Kindle. Published 2008. Author's name is Thomas Hamilton.
Shadowmarch series by Tad Williams, especially as you enjoy GRRM. While Tad's style is not quite as grim as Song of Ice and Fire, he uses similar settings and very strong characters, especially female roles. The third of the series has just been released in HC, and the concluding novel is set to be published within a few months.
