Why does the T.V. show "Games of Thrones" have such a cult following?

Recently the internet seem to explode with games of thrones reference and I was wondering why so many people LOVE this show. Don't get me wrong, it's a good show, but there is nothing so spectacular about it. (I must admit that Therion is pretty bad *** and I believe it may have been what started it all)

I think that the show is flawed in many aspect and don't deserve such recognition. The story is great, but it's always easy to take a book with a great story and make it into a T.V. show with a great story. Is it because of the books? Because, everything that is T.V. related (Image quality, editing, audio) is not better than any other show that don't have such a cult following

The books had a cult following before the TV show, so it transferred. Why does the T.V. show "Games of Thrones" have such a cult following?
It's awesome for a lot of reasons, while I agree with you that there are some medieval dramas that give this show a "been there done that feel" but this show is different, with great a cast, huge budget (it doesn't look cheap), it satisfy the book-readers and also intrigue new fans. Why does the T.V. show "Games of Thrones" have such a cult following?
It's not exactly a cult following. It has a large mainstream following. Because it is, despite your opinion, very spectacular.
