Hi :).
So I'm an active reader, and am considering reading the following books. If you've read any of the books on my list, could you just write a sentence or two saying what you thought of them? If you haven't read all of them, that's fine, just give me your opinions on what you have read. Be completely honest.
Books I'm Considering:
Delirium by Lauren Oliver
Matched by Ally Condie
13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher
Gone by Michael Grant
Secret Vampire by L.J. Smith (Night World series)
Incarceron by Catherine Fisher
Leaving Paradise by Simone Elkeles
Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
The Lying Game by Sara Shepard
Need by Carrie Jones
Marked by P.C. and Kristin Cast (House of Night series)
Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr
A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
Eragon by Christopher Paolini
The Hobbit by J.R. Tolkein
1984 by George Orwell
City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare (Mortal Instruments series... and yes, I've read the first one)
Linger by Maggie Stiefvater (Wolves of Mercy Falls series)
The Reckoning by Kelley Armstrong (Darkest Power series)
This World We Live in by Susan Pfeffer
Chain Reaction by Simone Elkeles
Torment by Lauren Kate
The Host by Stephanie Meyer
Wolfsbane by Andrea Cremer
Twisted by Sara Shepard
OK, so that's a long list, but just review the ones you've read. And If i listed the second book in a series, i know, and i've read the first book, and can't decide whether to continue reading or not. Also, if there's anything that should be on my want to read list, feel free to recommend it. I like pretty much any genre.
Thanks in advance :).Has anyone read these books? If so, could you tell me how you liked them?
"Matched": I haven't actually read it yet, but my friend has told me all about it. It's a really good book from what she's told me.
"13 Reasons Why": My other friend read this book and I have it on hold at the library. It looks like a superb book. (I've read every synopsis of it on the internet there is.)
"The Lying Game": This one I actually have read! It's one of my favorite books. I get goosebumps when I read it. I definitely recommend it!
"Eragon": I loved these books so much, I bought them and read them all 3 times. (November 8, 2011 "Inheritance" comes out!) You have to read those books!
"City of Ashes": You HAVE to read this one if you read the first one. All of her books get better throughout the series. This is a must read!
"Twisted": I haven't read it yet, but if you look at the reviews on it (from actually people), they say if you thought the 8th one was good, this one is going to blow the 8th one out of the water. So I'm going to say you have to read it.
Try reading "The Power of Five" series by Anthony Horowitz. The first book in the series is called "Raven's Gate". Love Anthony Horowitz. He's an amazing writer. If you like "The Power of Five", you could also try the "Alex Rider" series. They're by Anthony Horowitz, too. The first book in the series is Stormbreaker.
You should also try the "Guardians of Ga'Hoole" by Kathryn Lasky. The first book in the series is "The Capture". (I know, it looks kind of kid-ish, but they are actually really good!)
Hope this helped!

13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher
I was really exited when I started reading the book. The plot was very clever. However I felt somewhat disappointed. Why? Well, It explores teen-suicide. And at first you think that you can relate to the one that committed suicide but after the 13 reasons you realize there was only one real reason. And that's the unwillingness to fight against those who hurt you. Its hard to be a teenager and all but still... The book over-exaggerates. What means that I started reading the book because it sounded intriguing but at the end I thought that It was written by a teen himself not by an author.
A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
I am fan of the show and the books. I've read the first two books. And as a fan it would be wrong if I said not to read this book BUT I'll tend to be objective.
The thing is - the plot is pretty fun. The characters - a real dwarf (not a mythical creature), a bastard, a cripple, a tomboy, a thirteen year-old girl sold for a horse-lord etc. are very original for a fantasy novel. Why? Because fantasy novels tend to depict Heroes and Innocent Girls. EVIL lords, like lords of the darkness etc. While GOT doesn't have evil characters, but all of the characters are gray...
There are full of twists because if you are fan of fantasy fiction you'll be shocked. Cuz this book brakes the rules of fantasy rules and establish new ones...
But what I hate is the writing style. Sometimes I think I'll kill myself because of it, but still... The author tends to be VERY descriptive, VERY, VERY MUCH! Sometimes hole chapters pass without anything happening... Also THERE ARE THOUSANDS of characters. And the author names them all - servants, small lords, princes, princesses, lords, kings and queens, rivers, mountains, LOT OF PLACES! Sometimes you feel like - Who was the guy that turned out the be the murderer? Or who was captured? Who was the traitor? Etc.
I hope I helped...Has anyone read these books? If so, could you tell me how you liked them?
The Hobbit and 1984 are both great books. 1984, in particular, changed me both as a reader and writer, and expanded my ideas about what fiction can do. It's powerful stuff.
The Mortal Instruments series is a fun, light read. I personally think it's a bit fluffy, but it's entertaining enough.
I would also recommend Holly Black's books-- Tithe and White Cat are particularly good-- and The Chronicles of Chrestomanci, by Diana Wynne Jones.
I've read:
Delirium by Lauren Oliver-I LOVE this book!
13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher-This one was pretty good
Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick-It was okay. I don't think I'll read the rest of the series
Marked by P.C. and Kristin Cast (House of Night series)-I just hated these books. I couldn't look them so I gave them to my local library
A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin-I'm addicted to this series and I normally wouldn't read it
1984 by George Orwell-I think everyone should read it.
City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare (Mortal Instruments series... and yes, I've read the first one)didn't care for this series
Torment by Lauren Kate-Better than I expected. I'll probably read the next two-you've read the 1st book Fallen right?
The Host by Stephanie Meyer-Ten times better than Twilight
