Have only read one series before and ready to take on another fantasy adventure type novel. Can anyone recommend me any decent ones? preferably one that finishes the story in a total of 3 books.

Try the Midnighters series by Scott Westerfeld. It's a total of three books long and it caught me within the first few paragraphs of the first book. The only reason I didn't read all three of them in one week was because I had to wait until other people returned them to the library. They are really good and are very much fantasy-adventure.
