I have absolutely no motivation to read these days and I need to deplete my stock somehow, so maybe if someone would say that one of the books was amazing or something I'd go for it.
OK, so here is my pile beside my bed:
A Game of Thrones - George R.R. Martin
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams
The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest - Steig Larsson
Jane Eye - Charlotte Bronte
Catch 22 - Joseph Heller
Great Expectations - Charles Dickens
The Oh My God Delusion - Ross O'Carroll-Kelly
The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown
The Remains of the Day - Kazuo Ishiguro
Flowers in the Attic - Virginia Andrews
Emma - Jane Austen
Blood Meridian - Cormac McCarthy
I am aware that I have a slight excess of books...Which of these books would you read first?
Im sure you would love DA Vinci Code ... That's the best book I've read in my life . . Infact if you try all 5 books of Dan Brown you'll feel the same .. Da Vince takes reading to a new level and so does the other 4 - Angels and Demon , Deception Point , Digital Fortress, and The lost Symbol .. Actually he mixes Fact with fiction to create mind bobbling books like Da vinci Code .. Truly , Dan Brown is a Genius
Game of Thrones, every time. I've just started reading the fifth book in the series, An Dance with Dragons, and I'm hooked on it. It's brilliantly written, there are lots of twists in the story so it doesn't get boring, and the characters are amazing - you get to see them develop as people. Be warned though, it's a long series, it's told from the POV of a lot of different characters and it does get a bit depressing at times (the story, I mean).
That said, Hitchhikers is very good if you fancy something a bit more lighthearted and funny.
I never managed to get in to the "The Girl Who..." series, I started reading the first one and I ended up getting bored before the end of chapter one. Apparently it is very good once you get in to it though.Which of these books would you read first?
I would go for Emma - Jane Austen, it is a very good book, the movie doesn't do justice to this book.
probably some larsson or bronte.Which of these books would you read first?
A Game of Thrones, a friend recently read it and she really recommends it :)
The one that will likely grab your attention quickly and keep you turning pages is A Game of Thrones. However, it's the first in a series and it's possible that you'll want to go out and buy the others in the series as soon as you finish (as I did) and that will only stack more books on your pile.
Blood Meridian is a good engrossing read without sequels.
Catch-22, a great read, is a bit difficult to get into especially if you're having trouble with motivation.
The DaVinci Code is a quick read, very simple. So is Flowers in the Attic, but it has sequels that may tempt you.
Great Expectations, Jane Eyre and Emma are all great but require a bit of commitment to get into.
I'd go with Blood Meridian or The Remains of the Day.
I've read all of these with the exception of The Oh My God Delusion, which looks interesting. Do you need to read this series in order, or does it matter?
