Can anyone recommend some good books?

I am in Year 7 and I am looking for some good books to read. Please do NOT recommend Twilight or my head may spontaneously combust.

I enjoy books that make you think about concepts of life (or teaches you something) that makes you think at all actually. Books that are random and with little romance in it as possible.

I've read:

Animal Farm by George Orwell (and I DO understand the concept of it)

Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy (the series)

Moby Dick (and most of the other classics)

I will read The Game of Thrones series (when I get my hands on it) and Atlas Shrugged.

So please don't recommend those, are there any other good books around? Can anyone recommend some good books?
Unwind by Neal Shusterman

Parable of the Sower, by Octavia E. Butler

1984, by George Orwell

A Canticle for Liebowitz, by Walter M. Miller Jr.

Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley

Ender's Game, Orson Scott Card

Dune, Frank Herbert
These two will give you concepts of life to think about, and may teach you stuff....Blades and Dangerous Days, both by J. William Turner. Very realistic fiction about Australian teens in several tense, dramatic, life and death situations set in many parts of Australia, plus California and England, and dealing with teenage, adult and social themes. Yeah right. A seven year old that read Moby Dick ... lmao
Any books by Dan Brown are quite good without containing large love stories (e.g. The Da Vinci Code).

The Edge Chronicles (Paul Stewart and Chris Ryddell) are great books which are intriguing while being a bit random and fun. I always enjoyed those.

It all depends on what genre you're interested in and how little of a love story you want. For instance, Lirael, Sabriel and Abhorsen (Garth Nix) are excellent books which have some small love story written into them, but not much of one. They're kind of creepy fantasy if you like that sort of thing.

Books by Raymond E. Feist (Magician, Silverthorn, A Darkness at Sethanon) are purely fantasy books which I love and they have a bit of a love story in them but the plot doesn't depend on it.

The Artemis Fowl series (by Eoin Colfer) are amazing sci-fi books which have a tiny bit of a love story but not really at all.

The Bartimaeus Trilogy (Jonathan Stroud) are some of the funniest books I've ever read, and have a little bit of a love story but not too much. They have great concepts and a bunch of jokes which will keep you laughing for ages after you've read them. They're fantasy too.

Anything by Andy McDermott is bound to be thriller. Yes, it has a love story but it's an amazing book anyway, and again quite funny.

If you really DON'T want a love story in your books, I suggest (from the ones above) anything by Dan Brown, Paul Stewart and Chris Ryddell and Eoin Colfer. But if you're just looking for a good read, any one of those are amazing books.

You obviously enjoy classics too, so if you haven't read them yet then try some of Jules Verne's books. He was an amazing writer - my favourite book of his is Journey to the Centre of the Earth.
Ok, out of those, I've only read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. If you'd like to read another book that's hilarious, I suggest Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. It's a parody of the apocalypse. Somehow, the anti-christ got mixed up and, well, it's quite funny.

Another good one is The Princess Bride by William Goldman. I know the title suggests a romance, and there is a little bit of romance but nothing so mushy. In fact, I get the feeling that it was actually making fun of the true love concept. Hilarious and definitely a must-read.

There's another book by George Orwell that people usually recommend- 1984. You might want to check it out.

And, have you tried Angels and Demons by Dan Brown? That was a good mystery.
