Looking for two books suggestions one medieval and one teen romance.?

I want to read a good medieval style book fantasy or not doesn't matter to me as long as its good, i'm not looking for kid finds a magic sword and defies evil and odds to kill the villain, no i'm not looking for that type of book. If you have read game of thrones- more that style of a book. Lords going to war, kings dieing, murders, betrayals, revenges, even magic, if its possible, something good with drama, and action. i bet someone will try to suggest sword of truth series- i dont like the idea of one big villain ruling all because its obvious what happens at the end....



the second suggestion- i just want a normal teen romance type book- what i would really want is like a dork or a nerd or even a cubby kid getting the hot girl- instead of the mysterious and sexy type guy. i've read that a 1000 times over. But if you dont know a good suggestion for what i asked.. the new kid arrives to town with a troubled story,yadda, will do...

For the first, I'd suggest books by Robin Hobb. I've read two of her trilogies, and my favorite was her Farseer trilogy starting with Assassin's Apprentice. She has two other trilogies in the same world, the Tawny Man trilogy (which I also enjoyed) and the Liveship Traders, which I have waiting for me to read soon :). She also has a newer series set in a different world called the Soldier Son series. I'd recommend everything I've read by her - her plots are on the sort of epic level you're looking for, but they're also very clever and avoid a lot of the cliches you can find in fantasy. Check them out!



For the second, I have a couple suggestions: King Dork by Frank Portman and Spanking Shakespeare by Jake Wizner. Anything by John Green would suit this category, too, especially An Abundance of Katherines.

For the first, I would suggest the first amber series by the great Roger Zelazny While it isn't all medieval, a big chunk of it is and it includes more intrigue, murders, betrayals, revenge and magic than most writers have ever dreamed of plagiarizing.
